Lockyear Music is a highly rated music business servicing Washington and Oregon areas. Our mission is to provide local communities with top-notch live music entertainment for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours, receptions and other special events, as well as offer music lessons to students of ages 7+ and all levels.

Biography

Yuliya Lockyear is a Ukrainian born violinist, violist, pianist and music teacher based in Longview, Washington. She has been studying and playing the violin, viola and piano since the age of five. Classically trained, she earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Odessa National Music Academy in Ukraine, and Master of Music from Southeastern Louisiana University.

 

Yuliya Lockyear won the 1st prize in the International Competition of Young Performers "21st Century Art" in Kiev, Ukraine in 2009. She also participated in various festivals and concert tours throughout the world especially in Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Italy, Finland, Sweden and Canada.

Experience

Yuliya is known for her versatility as a performer. In addition to performing as a soloist, she also performed hundreds of concerts as a member of various chamber groups and professional music organizations.

 

Orchestras: Chernivtsi Academic Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, Odessa Youth Orchestra, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Rapides Symphony (Louisiana), Jefferson Performing Arts Society, and Southwest Washington Symphony.

 

Chamber groups: Dolce Vita String Quartet, Alegria Strings (for Princess Cruises Line, Seattle WA), Adagio Strings (for Holland America Line, Santa Clarita CA), and Bella Musica.

Teaching

In addition to her performing career, Lockyear is passionate about music education, and has been teaching violin, viola and piano since 2001. She is a former music instructor of the Kids’ Orchestra school, where she was nominated “Teacher of the Year 2015” (Baton Rouge LA). She also served as a music teacher for Toutle Lake Elementary School, WA (2015-2017). In 2017 Lockyear joined staff of Lower Columbia College, WA as violin and viola instructor and remains an active faculty member currently.

 

Yuliya also maintains a private music studio in Longview, WA and offers violin lessons, viola lessons and piano lessons for ages 7+ and all levels.
